About The Position

We are seeking a highly safe and dependable Mill Maintenance Mechanic to support a large copper mine and inspect, troubleshoot, repair and maintain machinery and structural parts in the Concentrator. This role involves performing mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance, identifying potential failures, and making decisions regarding equipment repair. The mechanic will also perform welding, operate various equipment, and maintain a clean and safe work area. Experience with gear/shaft alignments and maintenance of large conveyors in a concentrator environment is essential. The position requires a willingness to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operation. Additional duties may include other tasks to maintain mechanical operations, acting as a fill-in supervisor, and training/mentoring other employees.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years' experience in Mill mechanical/maintenance or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English.
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
  • Ability read and use schematics and blue prints.
  • Time management skills.
  • Requires manual dexterity in the use of hand tools.
  • Standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, carrying and moving items of up to 50 lbs and more.
  • Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions; dusty, hot weather.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions in an environment with varied noise levels.
  • Training or instruction in the area of environmental Awareness.
  • Training or instruction in the area of Safety & Health awareness including completion of the appropriate OSHA and/or MSHA training.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on gear/shaft alignments.
  • Previous experience operating larger than twenty (20) ton mobile crane.
  • Certified in welding (MIG, TIG, Stick, Arc).

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and maintain machinery and structural parts in the Concentrator.
  • Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance: Identify potential failures/ noises / wear on agitators, rotors, belts, pulleys, and gear boxes.
  • Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed.
  • Perform welding (Stick, Tig) as part of maintenance/repairs.
  • Operate equipment such as: Forklifts, overhead cranes, pneumatic air tools, and small mobile equipment.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work area and performing work area inspections.
  • Perform maintenance and repair of large conveyors in concentrator environment.
  • Act as a Fill-in Supervisor as needed.
  • Train and mentor other employees.
