About The Position

As our Electrical Shift Coordinator, you will coordinate the Mill/Surface electrical teams for maintenance of all electrical, network and radio equipment to keep our production going and our profitability up. Every day you will work at a mine on a remote island about 18 miles outside of Juneau, Alaska. You’ll start every job with safety first by inspecting your workplace, wearing the proper protective equipment, and you will promote safety compliance in all tasks. To thrive in this role, you must be able to train, lead, and supervise the Mill/Surface electricians as well as coordinate their daily work to ensure maximum utilization of resources and meet operational requirements. We’re on a remote island; you must know how to work independently. The Greens Creek Mine, located on Admiralty Island 18 miles south of Juneau, is an underground polymetallic mine operating since 1989, employing roughly 500 people. The mine is owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company, headquartered in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Established in 1891, Hecla has a rich history as a distinguished and respected precious metals producer. Requirements

  • Alaska state journeyman’s card and or MSHA Electrical Certification or be able to obtain one.
  • Extensive knowledge in electrical maintenance.
  • Experience supervising team members.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the Mill/Surface electrical teams for maintenance of all electrical, network and radio equipment.
  • Inspect your workplace, wear the proper protective gear, and promote safety compliance in all tasks.
  • Train, lead, and supervise the Mill/Surface electricians.
  • Coordinate daily work to ensure maximum utilization of resources and meet operational requirements.
  • Continually address electrical parts required for efficient equipment servicing/repairs and coordinate parts purchasing, delivery and staging to meet maintenance execution requirements.
  • Work with electrical planner, trainer and foreman to meet immediate and long-term maintenance requirements and goals that support production targets.
  • Lead and direct electricians in conjunction with other departments working closely with Mill Maintenance.
  • Display due diligence in safety & health, and environmental matters and lead by example to ensure the successful implementation of the Safety & Health and Environmental Management Systems.
