About The Position

The Mill Cutoff Operator Group 2 assists the mill operator with mill changeovers, monitors tube quality, makes equipment adjustments, and performs cutoff tooling maintenance. The role also supports inspection, documentation, and employee training to help ensure consistent product quality. Employees must follow applicable quality management system procedures, plant safety policies, and work instructions while performing physically demanding tasks in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

• Training in all applicable QS/ISO procedures and plant safety procedures and policies.
• Knowledge of all levels of production duties and qualifications listed for the role.
• Ability to reason through problems involving equipment adjustments.
• Average math background.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to walk, stand, or climb for the entire shift.
• Ability to bend and squat and have full range of all limbs without restrictions.
• Ability to meet the position’s physical demands, including regular standing, walking, and hand use.

Responsibilities

• Assist the mill operator with mill changeovers.
• Continuously monitor tube quality, including surface condition, I.D. flash, O.D. size, gauge, length, end condition, and straightness.
• Adjust or replace cutoff tooling as needed.
• Lubricate the cutoff, grease bearings, and oil gear boxes as time permits.
• Assist with eddy current setup and maintain the painting unit.
• Help the mill loader when possible.
• Keep heat numbers separate.
• Document the weld mill final inspection sheet as needed.
• Aid in training new employees.
• Clean plant areas when not assigned other work.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as directed.
• Carry out duties in accordance with applicable quality management system policies, procedures, and work instructions.
