About The Position

McGard LLC is seeking a highly talented and motivated Mill Assistant Lead to join their dynamic team. This role is for the 3rd Shift, working Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One to two (1-2) years’ experience as LDM Mill Operator.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude.

Responsibilities

  • To back up the Mill Department Lead and serve in their position if need be.
  • To assist LDM Lead in keeping the CNC Mill Department operating in an efficient and productive manner.
  • Make sure all mill programs and setup information is available when needed.
  • Be proactive in preparing set ups for operators when possible.
  • Notify First Shift Lead or Supervisor of repair needs for all mills.
  • Assist in resolving problems, delays and difficulties.
  • Help maintain updated list of tooling and set up requirements for mills.
  • Serve as a material handler for the Mill & Coin Departments, moving any gondolas/stands/parts that need to be moved.
  • Assist Lead with PM work and mill indications as needed.
  • Maintain all coolants, oils, and fluid needs on all of the mills.
  • Remove and dump any and all chip hoppers and bins in the department.
  • Assist with setups in the department with the goal to reduce setup time and keep the machines running.
  • Responsible for cleaning, organizing, and maintaining the department tooling and gaging.
  • Communicating missing or needed tooling with Lead and Tool Room to ensure complete tooling sets are ready for the department.
  • Responsible for facilitating help from Tool Room, Maintenance, Leads, Supervisors etc. so that the machines are back up and running in a timely fashion.
  • Perform daily documented buddy checks on all running mills.
  • Perform First piece sign offs as needed.
  • Help and assist Lead in training new mill operators per Department Training Program.
  • Ensure all parts produced are regularly inspected for quality by operators as outlined by the LDM Mill Department Quality Policy.
  • Run a mill from time to time when needed.
