About The Position

Leidos is hiring licensed behavioral health professionals for its Child and Youth Behavioral Military and Family Life Counselor (CYB-MFLC) team, supporting Naval Base Coronado in California. The assignment rotates across a Child Development Center (CDC), a Youth Center, and a high school. The role provides non-medical counseling, consultation, and outreach to eligible faculty, staff, parents, children, and youth. This preventive support uses solution-focused approaches to address concerns before they develop into greater challenges and helps military children manage the emotional and environmental challenges associated with military life. The counselor works with children from infancy through age five at installation Child Development Centers and with school-aged children, youth, and teens in before- and after-school care settings. Work includes engaging in activities with children and youth, supporting staff and parents, offering presentations, promoting creativity and positivity, and helping children adjust to transitions such as a new school or home. The counselor also participates in assigned training and contract activities and communicates installation trends and issues to Team Leads. The position involves work in multiple indoor and outdoor locations, responding to emergent situations, and potentially traveling to locations outside a military base. Outdoor work may include traversing uneven grassy, gravel, or dirt areas, ascending and descending stairs, and exposure to weather. CDC work frequently involves sitting on the floor to interact with children for up to two hours at a time. Site-specific requirements may apply at military installations and related worksites.
