About The Position

RedSky is seeking a highly qualified and mission-driven MILGROUP Task Lead/Network Engineer to provide critical technical and leadership support for Department of Defense (DoD) Security Operations Offices. This role is based at MacDill Air Force Base, with frequent (50-60%) travel required to both continental (CONUS) and overseas (OCONUS) locations. The ideal candidate will possess advanced technical knowledge and extensive experience overseeing the delivery, maintenance, and integration of secure network communications and IT systems in dynamic, mission-critical environments. This position is deployable and requires possession and maintenance of a valid U.S. passport. Requirements

  • Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows OS (Windows 10/11), Active Directory, and enterprise image/load set deployments.
  • Proven leadership and subject matter expertise in executive-level communications support, with the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage both individual and team tasks.
  • Deep understanding of LAN/WAN architectures, TCP/IP networking principles, Remedy help desk workflows, and the configuration/operation of encryption devices.
  • Demonstrated ability to excel in dynamic, high-tempo, and potentially austere environments; including the flexibility to work non-standard hours and deploy worldwide as mission requires.
  • Strong customer service orientation; effective at direct interaction with senior stakeholders.
  • Prior experience supporting all phases of customer IT needs, including physical movement/installation of network assets.
  • DoD 8140 IAT-II certification, with CompTIA Security+ (SY0-701) or equivalent required.
  • Active CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification and credential copy required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior military service and/or experience supporting U.S. embassies are highly desirable.
  • ITIL v4 certification is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 10+ years of relevant technical experience (preferably in a DoD or similar environment) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a distributed team of IT professionals supporting both CONUS and OCONUS operations, ensuring all information technology systems consistently meet established service levels and operational readiness requirements for senior leadership communications.
  • Provide advanced technical support for information systems and networks, including remote communications equipment, deployable network communication systems, multi-channel satellite communications, secure telephony equipment, video conferencing terminals, laptops, desktops, and peripheral devices.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing and validation of all communications equipment and integrated suites to ensure full operational capability and mission readiness.
  • Deliver direct, executive-level customer support with minimal supervision, collaborating with network services, software/system engineering, and asset management personnel to restore services and resolve complex issues.
  • Provide onsite and remote technical support to CONUS and OCONUS locations, including system installation, repairs, and preventive maintenance for workstations, laptops, and related hardware/software platforms.
  • Diagnose and remediate hardware and software failures efficiently, applying subject matter expertise to return equipment to operational status in accordance with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Interface regularly with executive stakeholders, supervisors, peer groups, and customers to manage support workflow, maintain professional communication, and promptly address requirements.
  • Document and maintain records on all hardware and software systems, overseeing upgrades, replacements, and implementation of corrective fixes and security patches through registry edits, patch installations, Active Directory policy configurations, and application testing.
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, operate, and maintain all assigned network devices, encryption units, computers, workstations, laptops, thin clients, printers, scanners, and other designated IT equipment throughout the lifecycle of the task.
