About The Position

The role of the recruiter is to carry out identification and recruitment activities throughout all 15 counties Region 6 to identify and recruit families with students that may be eligible for Migrant Education Program (MEP) services. This includes canvassing communities and businesses and interviewing families that work in agriculture or fishing using state MEP protocols. This is a federal grant funded position that is contingent upon appropriation of migrant funds.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Must possess oral fluency in English and Spanish
  • Experience working with families
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and a professional customer service attitude
  • Friendly and courteous demeanor and the ability to establish rapport when working with clients and ESC staff
  • Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively with diverse personalities
  • Ability to complete required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner
  • Maintain confidentiality with sensitive information
  • Utilize current technology platforms and software
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, be willing to travel throughout the region, and be able to use a map for navigation
  • Experience working with diverse groups of people
  • Work experience in customer service

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education, preferred
  • Work experience in social services, outreach, and/advocacy preferred

Responsibilities

  • Complete all required training for the position of recruiter
  • Work closely with Region 6 MEP staff to support and expand the Identification and Recruitment (ID&R) network by coordinating with local and regional organizations and agencies that provide services to migrant workers and their families.
  • Conduct identification and recruitment activities to identify migrant families and Out-of-School Youth (OSY) in Region 6, which may include: canvassing the region and posting materials, interviewing families, cross-referencing data bases, and accurately recording necessary facts to be shared with ESC MEP staff
  • Serve as a representative of the ESC 6 Migrant Education Program with professionalism in all interactions
  • Conduct themselves with a positive, friendly, approachable manner when working with families and clients
  • Maintain all internal and external required program paperwork and program documentation and submit by requested deadlines
  • Maintain confidentiality with all personally identifiable information according to FERPA and all ESC policies and procedures
  • Follow all local, state, and federal guidelines and policies
  • Other duties as assigned
