About The Position

The primary goals are to provide academic, language, and educational support to eligible migratory students and Out-of-School Youth (OSY), thereby promoting educational access, engagement, and success. This position also works to reduce barriers by connecting students and families with appropriate educational opportunities, school services, and community resources.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must meet or exceed applicable Title I paraprofessional qualification requirements, which may include: Completion of 60 or more college credit hours; or A qualifying score on an approved paraprofessional assessment.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish with the ability to communicate effectively with students, families, school staff, and community partners.
  • Ability to establish positive, respectful, and supportive relationships with migratory students, Out-of-School Youth (OSY), families, and school personnel.
  • Ability to work effectively and respectfully with culturally and linguistically diverse students and families and understand the unique needs of migratory populations.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, demonstrate professionalism, and comply with district, state, federal, and Migrant Education Program requirements.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to sit and work on a computer for long periods of time.
  • Ability to stand, bend and move up and down from the floor throughout the day.
  • Ability to travel across the county.
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of previous experience working with migratory students and families, multilingual learners/English learners, Out-of-School Youth, or students in an educational setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic, language, and educational support to eligible migratory students and Out-of-School Youth (OSY).
  • Promote educational access, engagement, and success.
  • Reduce barriers by connecting students and families with appropriate educational opportunities, school services, and community resources.
  • Provide individual and small-group academic and language support under the direction of a certified teacher and/or program administrator.
  • Identify barriers to educational participation and connect students and families with appropriate school, educational, and community resources.
  • Maintain accurate and timely student records, service documentation, activity logs, PARs, progress information, and other required program records.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, counselors, recruiters, Migrant Education Program staff, and community partners to support student success.
