About The Position

The Middle School Volleyball Coach leads and develops CCA's middle school volleyball program — running practices and games, teaching fundamentals and team play, and mentoring student-athletes spiritually, academically, and personally. The Coach provides age-appropriate instruction and supervision, builds discipline and school pride, and operates a safe, well-organized program aligned with CCA's mission and applicable league and state requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Working knowledge of volleyball rules, fundamentals, and strategy appropriate to the middle school level.
  • Demonstrated ability to instruct, supervise, and motivate middle school-aged students.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with email and team communication apps.
  • Able to stand, walk, and demonstrate skills for extended periods.
  • Able to work in gym environments with variable temperatures.
  • Able to lift and carry equipment up to 40 pounds.
  • Available afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends per the practice and game calendar, including travel to away games.
  • Actively engaged in a Bible-believing church
  • Faithfully represent and uphold the beliefs and leadership values of Calvary Christian Academy and Calvary Christian Center.

Nice To Haves

  • College coursework or degree preferred.
  • Prior coaching, playing, or instructional experience in volleyball preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead practices, games, and team meetings on the schedule set by the Athletic Director.
  • Teach age-appropriate volleyball fundamentals (passing, setting, serving, hitting, blocking), rotations, and basic team strategy.
  • Build a season plan covering practice structure, game preparation, and player development appropriate to the middle school level.
  • Evaluate players fairly through tryouts and the season; give feedback that builds skill, character, and confidence.
  • Provide direct supervision of student-athletes during practices, games, and team activities; maintain appropriate coach-to-athlete ratios.
  • Integrate prayer, devotionals, and biblical principles into team activities.
  • Model integrity, sportsmanship, and self-control with players, parents, officials, and spectators.
  • Mentor student-athletes in personal growth, academics, and spiritual formation.
  • Maintain a safe environment; monitor player health, hydration, and conditioning loads.
  • Follow CCA's concussion protocol; remove any student-athlete suspected of head injury until cleared.
  • Confirm all athletes have current physicals, signed participation forms, and required consents before play.
  • Inspect equipment, uniforms, and the gym facility; report hazards or damage to the Athletic Director immediately.
  • Communicate schedules, expectations, and updates clearly and on time to students, parents, and staff.
  • Respond to parent and student concerns professionally and biblically.
  • Maintain accurate records: attendance, eligibility documents, incident reports, and season evaluations.
  • Steward equipment, uniforms, facilities, and budgeted resources responsibly.
  • Represent CCA positively at games, tournaments, and school events.
  • Comply with all CCA policies, the Employee Handbook, and applicable league and state regulations.
