About The Position

Prep Academy Tutors – Greater Victoria is seeking an exceptional Middle School Teacher to join our growing team in Victoria, BC. We provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring in students' homes and online, helping students in Grades 6–9 strengthen their academic skills, build confidence, and develop a lifelong love of learning. Our tutors do more than provide academic support—they mentor students, foster independent learning, and help them navigate the important transition from elementary to secondary school.

As a Middle School Teacher with Prep Academy Tutors, you will provide individualized instruction to students in Grades 6 through 9, supporting them in core academic subjects while helping them develop effective study habits, organization, critical thinking, and confidence. Tutoring sessions take place in students' homes and online, allowing you to build strong relationships and deliver instruction that meets each student's learning style and academic goals.

Requirements

• A Bachelor of Education or a degree in a teachable subject.
• A valid BC Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for certification).
• Experience teaching or working with middle school students (Grades 6–9).
• A strong understanding of the BC curriculum.
• Confidence teaching one or more core subjects, including: Mathematics, English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• A patient, engaging, and student-centred approach to teaching.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• A valid driver's licence and reliable transportation for in-home tutoring.
• The ability to successfully complete a Criminal Record Check.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging one-on-one tutoring sessions tailored to each student's needs.
• Support students with homework, skill development, enrichment, and academic recovery.
• Create personalized learning plans aligned with the BC curriculum.
• Help students improve study skills, organization, time management, and academic confidence.
