About The Position
The Middle School Teacher's basic function is to help students acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will contribute to their educational and social development. This role involves developing and implementing an instructional program aligned with school objectives, assessing its effectiveness, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of subject areas and child development. The teacher is responsible for creating an inclusive learning environment that accommodates diverse learning styles and abilities, monitoring student progress, and providing remediation. Effective classroom management, respect for students, and communication with parents are key aspects of the position. The teacher also accepts non-instructional duties and complies with all relevant laws and regulations.
Requirements
- Holds a bachelor’s degree.
- Holds required Kentucky certification for assigned position.
Responsibilities
- Develop an instructional program that incorporates annual school objectives.
- Incorporate learner objectives compatible with the subject, grade level, curriculum, and middle school student needs.
- Assess the effectiveness of the instructional program.
- Maintain adequate knowledge of subject areas and child growth and development of middle school students.
- Ensure instruction, materials, and procedures are appropriate for the subject and student needs.
- Utilize application and practice for concept or skill acquisition/reinforcement.
- Encourage active involvement of students, parents, and others in daily instructional activities.
- Assess individual student abilities to devise techniques that accommodate differences in learning rates, styles, and ability levels.
- Monitor individual student achievement on a continuous basis.
- Employ a variety of teaching methods to meet middle school student needs.
- Provide remediation as required.
- Use professional classroom management techniques to maintain a suitable instructional environment.
- Show respect for the dignity and worth of all students, value cultural differences, and maintain communication with parents.
- Accept responsibility for non-instructional duties as assigned.
- Comply with laws, rules, and regulations established to carry out the school program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
