About The Position

GEO Next Generation Academy-Indianapolis is a free K-12+ public charter school seeking a team of excellence. We offer an early college program for qualifying high school students to take college courses for credit, free of charge. Our curriculum uses Core Knowledge in K-8, Project Lead the Way in middle school, and a blended learning model in middle school through high school. We are a TAP school committed to excellence and mission-driven to achieve uncommonly high levels of student achievement. Our teachers cultivate critical thinking skills, preparing students to be leaders and agents of positive change.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher with at least 24 credit hours in content area.
  • Valid Indiana Teaching License for Grades 6-8.
  • Strong technical skills, particularly in integrating technology in the classroom to drive academic achievement.
  • Demonstrated volunteer or community service.
  • At least two years of successful teaching in an urban environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement a blended learning environment, providing direct and indirect instruction in Social Studies, Science, Language Arts, Health, and Mathematics based on state standards.
  • Create an inviting, innovative, and engaging learning environment that develops student critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Prepare students for strong academic achievement and passing of all required assessments.
  • Communicate regularly with parents.
  • Continually assess student progress toward mastery of standards and keep students and parents well informed of student progress by collecting and tracking data, providing daily feedback, weekly assessments, and occasional parent/teacher conferences.
  • Work with Special Education teachers and administration to serve special needs students in the classroom.
  • Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students.
  • Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from administrative staff.
  • Attend all required staff meetings and designated school functions outside of school hours.
