About The Position

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Middle Swimming Coach at Bedford Middle School for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in competitive swimming and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for young athletes. This seasonal position offers the opportunity to inspire and develop the swimming skills of middle school students while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth.

Requirements

  • Previous experience coaching or competing in swimming at the middle school, high school, or collegiate level.
  • Strong knowledge of swimming techniques, training methods, and competitive strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and school staff in a collaborative environment.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate practice and meet schedules.
  • A genuine passion for swimming and a commitment to the personal and athletic development of middle school students.
  • Ability to pass a background check as required by school district policies.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct daily swim practices, focusing on technique, endurance, and overall athletic development.
  • Develop and implement training programs tailored to the skill levels of individual swimmers and the team as a whole.
  • Organize and supervise swim meets, including warm-ups, race line-ups, and post-race evaluations.
  • Teach swimming fundamentals, including stroke mechanics, starts, turns, and finishes, while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
  • Foster a positive and encouraging team culture that promotes sportsmanship, respect, and collaboration among athletes.
  • Communicate regularly with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding practice schedules, meet information, and athlete progress.
  • Monitor and evaluate individual and team performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance for improvement.
  • Maintain a safe and organized practice environment, addressing any issues related to swimmer safety and equipment management.
  • Assist in recruiting new team members and promoting the swimming program within the school community.
  • Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay updated on the latest coaching techniques and swimming trends.
