About The Position
This program is an academic-focused program designed to combat the summer slide for incoming 7th and 8th-grade students. Students will participate in STEM-based learning, similar to Project Lead the Way, and have the opportunity to join a Summer Reading Book Club. The program requires a minimum of 20 students to operate and will be held at either Kennedy Middle School or McDevitt Middle School.
Requirements
- Must hold a MA DESE teaching license.
- Current 6th and 7th-grade students are eligible to participate.
- Minimum of 20 students required for the program to run.
- Ability to work from July 6th to August 6th.
- Availability for 4 hours of daily teaching, 30 minutes of student supervision, and 1 hour of daily prep for 19 days.
Nice To Haves
- Preference will be given to those certified in the content being taught.
Responsibilities
- Must hold a MA DESE teaching license.
- Facilitate a structured learning environment for daily instruction on MESH power standards.
- Supervise students for 30 minutes daily.
- Prepare daily lessons for 1 hour each day (except the last day of summer school).
- Attend a 1-hour prep meeting with the site coordinator prior to summer school.
Benefits
- Contractual rate of $40 per hour for up to 110 hours.
- Total compensation up to $4400.
