About The Position

The Middle School Student Advocate provides academic, social, and emotional support to students, ensuring they meet program criteria in and out of school. This role collaborates with parents, community partners, and school administration to connect students with necessary resources. Success in this position is measured by student progress, engagement, and the effectiveness of support services provided.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or some college experience in Education, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in student advocacy, counseling, or educational support preferred.
  • Experience working with middle school students and community engagement is a plus.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to track and analyze student progress data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and student management systems.
  • Knowledge of available community and educational resources.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Driver’s License

  • Experience working with middle school students and community engagement is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Track student grades, behavior, and attendance.
  • Ensure students meet program criteria and academic progress.
  • Connect students with necessary resources (tutoring, counseling, etc.).
  • Communicate with parents about resources and events.
  • Encourage parental involvement in student academic success.
  • Maintain engagement between community and schools.
  • Guide students in college and career exploration.
  • Organize postsecondary trips to expose students to future opportunities.
  • Assist other departments with projects and tracking information.
  • Assist with field trip logistics, including transportation and meals.
  • Design and coordinate special events.
  • Offer assistance to team members as needed.
  • Assist in the organization and cleanliness of the building.
  • Cooperate in the pickup and organization of donated materials.
  • Avail transportation for TIF students or staff, when necessary.
  • Participate in tours as requested.
  • Participate in community activities, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director of Program Services, or CEO.
