About The Position

Springfield Prep Charter School is a K-8 public charter school in Springfield, Massachusetts that prepares all students for high school, college, and life. We are driven by the belief that all children deserve a world-class education and that they can and will achieve when provided with high expectations, rigorous curriculum, and a joyful school culture. Teaching Special Education at Springfield Prep involves collaboration with classroom teachers and the Special Education Team, weekly 1-on-1 coaching in the first year (bi-weekly for all teachers), weekly professional development and team meeting time built into the schedule (students dismiss at 12:30 pm on Fridays), and resources, support, and planning time to develop and refine curriculum and lesson plans. The Operations and School Culture teams provide support so teachers can focus on teaching.

Requirements

Must have earned a Bachelor’s degree by the start of the school year.
Can commit to our schedule: (7:25 am-3:35 pm)

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver specialized pull-out instruction and push-in support to the students on your caseload.
Complete all IEP and Progress Report paperwork in accordance with DESE regulations.
Use organization and communication skills to manage all aspects of your students’ IEPs by serving as a liaison for classroom teachers, families, and other instructional support staff and service providers to ensure that your students succeed in a general education classroom and meet the goals and objectives of their IEPs.
Exemplify your conviction that all students, regardless of their background, can achieve at the highest levels by using student achievement data to drive and differentiate your instruction, including students with learning differences.
Build relationships with students and families to create a positive classroom culture with high expectations and respect for students' diverse backgrounds and identities.
Teach and uphold school-wide expectations and systems for student behavior.
Grow as an educator through weekly coaching and professional development.
