About The Position

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Social Studies Teacher for grades 6th-8th to join our team.

Requirements

  • B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited institution.
  • 1-2 years of classroom experience, preferably in urban education.
  • Valid and active Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate.
  • Ability to provide a Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check Clearance (Act 34).
  • Ability to provide a Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151).
  • Ability to provide a Federal Bureau of Investigation Record Check Clearance (Act 114).
  • Ability to provide a Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Clearance (Act 168).
  • Demonstrated skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
  • Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and a variety of individualized needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program for middle school students.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and educational goals.
  • Create a supportive and engaging classroom environment that promotes student learning and participation.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and parents/guardians.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum and instructional methods.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and school administrators.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
  • Execute school-wide duties in accordance with school rules and procedures (e.g., lunch, recess, hallway).
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
