About The Position

Monte Cassino School is seeking a full-time Middle School Social Studies Teacher for grades 5-8. This role involves creating a positive learning environment, adhering to educational standards, planning lessons, communicating with parents, and supporting students academically, socially, and spiritually. The teacher will also lead an advisory class, potentially chaperone school activities, and collaborate with staff on school initiatives. A strong work ethic, initiative, empathy, and resilience are essential. The ideal candidate will embrace the joys and challenges of working in a school setting.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in education or teaching subject area
Teaching experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong problem solving skills
Collegial disposition and ability to work along side adults in the community
Sense of humor, creativity and flexibility to adapt as needed
Passion for working with students aged 10-14
Proficiency with technology

Responsibilities

Create a positive learning environment for all students.
Follow Oklahoma and/or national standards to teach assigned subject area.
Plan and prepare appropriate lessons and units of study.
Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress.
Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of students.
Support students academically, socially and spiritually throughout their time at Monte Cassino.
Provide assistance to students during tutorial.
Teach/lead an advisory class as assigned by principal.
May be required to organize, supervise and chaperone field trips, dances, or other school activities.
Work closely with teachers, counselors, principal and other staff on school initiatives.
Be an active participant in the life of the middle school.
Assist with duties such a carline, lunch/recess supervision.
