Belmont Charter Network is seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Social Studies Teacher (6th-8th Grade) to join their family of 5 community schools. Requirements

  • B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited institution
  • 1-2 years of classroom experience, preferably in urban education
  • Valid and active Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate
  • Ability to provide a Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check Clearance (Act 34), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151), Federal Bureau of Investigation Record Check Clearance (Act 114), and Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Clearance (Act 168) before starting work on campus
  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
  • Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls, and answer emails.
  • Participate in appropriate professional activities.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs, and student organizations as directed.
  • Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and a variety of individualized needs

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and educational goals.
  • Create a supportive and engaging classroom environment that promotes student learning and participation.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and parents/guardians.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum and instructional methods.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and school administrators.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
  • Execute school-wide duties in accordance with school rules and procedures, such as lunch, recess, hallway, or other duties in the school as assigned.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
