About The Position

American Heritage School is seeking a qualified and dedicated middle school Science aide. This position is considered a faith-forming role within American Heritage School. In addition to assisting with academic instruction, aides are expected to actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Candidates should be professional in appearance and demeanor and willing and able to serve as ambassadors for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement. Personal conduct, public statements, and online presence, both on and off campus, are expected to reflect and support the school's religious mission and educational purpose.

Requirements

  • Comfortable teaching middle school general science as directed
  • Demonstrate an enduring love of youth and a genuine passion for teaching and learning
  • Commitment to actively participate in and contribute to a faith-based educational environment aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • High energy and a warm, consistent presence in the classroom
  • Experience preparing and delivering daily lesson plans
  • Experience establishing and communicating clear learning objectives
  • Ability to use a variety of pedagogical methods
  • Willingness to continue learning and growing professionally
  • Professional in appearance and demeanor
  • Willing and able to serve as ambassadors for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent is preferred
  • Experience working with students with specific learning disabilities is helpful
  • Interest or experience in supporting AHS extracurricular athletics programs

Responsibilities

  • Assisting teachers with classroom management, grading, teaching, lab preparation and general teacher and student support
  • Carpool and lunchroom supervision duties
  • Other duties as assigned by the science teachers or administration
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create and post assignments with clear instructions, models, and rubrics
  • Maintain purposeful and effective classroom routines
  • Communicate with parents and colleagues in ways that are timely, collaborative, precise, and positive
  • Monitor and report student progress clearly and consistently
  • Integrate faith-based principles and moral reasoning into classroom instruction where appropriate
  • Serve as an example of Christian character and discipleship to students
  • Support and uphold the spiritual mission of the school through daily interactions with students and colleagues
  • Participate in school-wide devotionals, prayer, and other faith-centered activities
  • Respond thoughtfully to student questions related to faith, values, and moral decision-making in a manner consistent with the school's mission
