About The Position

The Middle School Robotics Coach will be responsible for leading and managing the school’s robotics team throughout the competition season and limited off-season preparation. While the middle school team will only participate in one official competition, the role involves team preparation, technical mentorship, event coordination, and maintaining strong communication with students, families, and district staff. This stipend position provides a foundation for students interested in progressing to high school robotics programs.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, engage, and mentor middle school students in STEM-based learning and competition preparation.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to coordinate with local sponsors, community volunteers, and district personnel.
  • Willingness to foster inclusivity, equity, and belonging within the team environment.
  • Capable of organizing team meetings, handling event registration and logistics, and coordinating transportation and supervision for competition day.
  • Able to oversee safety training and ensure all participants follow proper equipment and lab protocols.
  • Willingness to maintain and manage robotics materials, inventory, and team documentation.
  • Enthusiastic about inspiring young learners to explore engineering, programming, teamwork, and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead regular team meetings and build sessions.
  • Coordinate and supervise all aspects of the competition, including team registration, permissions, travel, and communication.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and encouraging environment for student participants.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians and administration regarding schedules, expectations, and student progress.
  • Maintain robotics kits, tools, and any team-owned materials.
  • Ensure adherence to all school district policies and procedures related to extracurricular activities.
