About The Position

The Middle School Pom Pon Coach will be responsible for leading and instructing student athletes in pom pon, developing their skills, and fostering participation in the sport. This role involves working collaboratively with administration, staff, and other coaches to ensure student success and a positive school climate. The coach will also be responsible for meeting all Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) course requirements and maintaining current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and AED usage.

Requirements

  • Successful coaching experience, preferably at the middle school level.
  • High level of pom pon knowledge.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of best practices in coaching.
  • Experience working as part of a collaborative team.
  • Willingness to meet all Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) course requirements.
  • Obtain current certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED usage.
  • Meet requirements for a background check and fingerprinting.

Nice To Haves

  • HPSD certified professional educators desired but not required.
  • HPSD certified staff will be given first consideration (automatic interview).

Responsibilities

  • Instruct student athletes in large groups, small groups, and individualized settings.
  • Develop and use strategies to improve individual and team play.
  • Encourage student participation in the sport.
  • Utilize classroom discipline strategies while providing positive reinforcement.
  • Work with other coaches by supporting and encouraging students to participate in other sports.
  • Communicate effectively with players, parents, and other coaches.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure student success and a positive school climate.
