About The Position

Bedford Middle School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to inspire and guide students in the exciting field of robotics. The Robotics Coach will work with middle school students to develop their skills in robotics design, programming, and teamwork. This role requires a passion for technology and education, as well as the ability to foster a collaborative and innovative learning environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, engineering, computer science, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with middle school students, preferably in a coaching or educational role.
  • Strong knowledge of robotics, programming languages, and relevant technologies (e.g., LEGO Mindstorms, VEX Robotics, Arduino).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and faculty.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively.
  • A passion for STEM education and a commitment to fostering a love of learning in students.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in competitive robotics or related extracurricular activities is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive robotics curriculum that aligns with educational standards and engages students in hands-on learning experiences.
  • Coach and mentor students in robotics competitions, including preparation, strategy development, and teamwork.
  • Organize and facilitate robotics workshops, meetings, and practice sessions to enhance students' technical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to integrate robotics into the broader educational program and promote STEM initiatives.
  • Manage the robotics team, including recruitment, scheduling, and communication with students and parents.
  • Ensure the safe and responsible use of robotics equipment and materials.
  • Stay current with advancements in robotics technology and educational practices, and share knowledge with students and colleagues.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that encourages creativity, collaboration, and resilience.
  • Participate in school events and community outreach to promote the robotics program and encourage student participation.
