About The Position

KIPP Columbus is seeking a Middle School Music Teacher to join their Learning Link Team. This role is responsible for teaching music, marching band, and/or orchestra, assessing student progress, and organizing concerts and musical events. The teacher will also focus on tracking student growth in music reading, re-teaching, and follow-up lessons. The position involves building a classroom culture that empowers students, affirms their identities, and creates a sense of belonging. The teacher will implement school-wide and classroom management policies, create a responsive environment for parents and families, and maintain accurate grade books and parent communication. Additionally, the role includes attending staff meetings, professional development sessions, and participating in daily school functions. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Current Ohio Teaching License or willingness and ability to pursue certification by start date Required
  • 1 or more years of lead teaching experience, or degree in the content area you would teach Required
  • Belief that outstanding school leaders, staff, and teachers can achieve excellent outcomes for all students.
  • Ability to persevere with a sense of optimism, strong problem solving skills, and desire to learn and grow in a collaborative professional learning community.
  • Willingness, and commitment, to go above and beyond to prove the possible with students.

Responsibilities

  • One-to-One Check-Ins with students
  • Classroom coverage as needed
  • Leading extracurricular activities like leading Marching Band
  • Attending athletic events
  • Craft, internalize, and implement high-quality, challenging, and engaging lesson plans teaching Music, Marching Band, and or Orchestra
  • Assessing student progress
  • Organizing concerts and other musical events
  • Tracking student growth in reading music overtime
  • Re-teaching and follow-up lessons
  • Build a classroom culture that empowers students, affirms their identities, and creates a sense of belonging for all students
  • Implement the school-wide and classroom management policies and practices
  • Create a responsive and inclusive environment for parents and families
  • Internalize and prepare lessons focused on music development
  • Maintain accurate grade book
  • Track communication with parents
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with students and families based on trust and respect
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and team meetings
  • Participate in the daily functions of the school such as morning, lunch, and afternoon supervisory duties
  • Embrace and incorporate feedback in the spirit of constant improvement
