About The Position

Global Leadership Academy Charter School is seeking a passionate and creative Middle School Math Teacher for a ten-month, salaried position. This role is within a culturally rich environment focused on preparing future leaders of the world. GLA redefines public education by using the world as a classroom, aiming to close the achievement gap through exposure, access, and opportunity. The school design empowers scholars to take ownership of their learning and compete on a global stage. The Middle School Math Teacher will be responsible for building thinking classrooms where scholars are encouraged to be curious, understand conceptual understandings, and solve real-world problems to promote critical thinking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university required in field of education or mathematics education.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, leadership, collaboration, and independent thinking.
  • Must possess strong people skills and emotional intelligence when dealing with students, parents, and colleagues, as well as a demonstrated understanding of and investment in the School.

Nice To Haves

  • Current teaching license (Grades 4-8 Math)

Responsibilities

  • Designing rigorous, PA Core standards-aligned lessons based on the standards for mathematical practice and content
  • Plan for class activities, including preparing units and daily lesson plans, identifying materials to implement class activities, preparing class projects, giving children feedback on completed work to ensure mastery of presented material, and grading of tests and assignments in a timely manner.
  • Establishing and communicating clear objectives for lessons, units and projects
  • Maintaining positive relationships with scholars, parents, coworkers and supervisors
  • Creating a safe, respectful and inclusive classroom environment
  • Working with scholars in both small groups and large groups
  • Tracking and evaluating student academic progress
  • Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence
  • Identify the educational needs of scholars and altering instruction to meet student needs
  • Communicate with parents on a regular basis about schedule, assignments, events, and individual scholar needs.
  • Meet with parents during scheduled conferences during the school year.
  • Other duties as assigned by CEO, Principal, or Academy Leader
