About The Position

The Middle School Math Teacher at PSOE is responsible for direct instruction, curriculum implementation, lesson planning, data analysis, and classroom management for students in grades 6-8. This role requires a deep understanding of mathematics, effective teaching methodologies, and the ability to foster a positive and engaging learning environment. The teacher will also ensure compliance with individual student education plans, manage parent relations, and contribute to the overall educational team and school community.

Requirements

Valid Indiana State Teaching License or equivalent.
Bachelor’s degree in field of education.
Proficient understanding of integrated projects based instruction.
Proficient understanding and use of the Core Knowledge Sequence.
Understand the strands, processes, and vocabulary of Everyday Mathematics.
Understand math content through senior-level math courses.
Possess a background in teaching a hands-on math program or demonstrate an interest in and understanding of such a program.
Be comfortable in student-directed classrooms.
Demonstrate the ability to develop a math concept with manipulatives.
Demonstrate the ability to develop a math strand through several units.
Willingness to participate in mathematics professional development sessions.
Excellence in organizational management and data disaggregation.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, and set and achieve strategic objectives.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to planning.
Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.

Annual training and/or professional development is required.

Responsibilities

Provide direct instruction in whole-class, small group, and individual settings using data-driven instruction and PSOE educational frameworks.
Implement curriculum, plan lessons, and manage classrooms effectively.
Maintain compliance with individual student Education Plans, Section 504 Plans, BIP’s, FBA’s, IEP’s and 504 programs.
Understand and utilize the Core Knowledge Sequence and Everyday Mathematics curriculum, including its strands, processes, and vocabulary.
Keep current with trends, pedagogy, issues, and topics in mathematics education.
Develop math concepts using manipulatives and integrate technology tools into the math curriculum.
Complete assessments, grading, planning, and conferences with students, staff, and families within appropriate timelines.
Collaborate with team leads, Elite Teachers, Special Education Director, school counselors, and other professionals to support students with exceptional needs.
Develop and maintain regular family communication and community partnerships.
Complete reports and follow-up documentation as required by administration, including updated cumulative folders.
Contribute to the school education team by serving on committees and participating in local operations.
Act as a professional advisor to the team lead/elite teacher on classroom activities.
Abide by all PSOE frameworks and maintain ongoing, consistent, and supportive communication.
Assume delegated roles for school functions to manage team workload efficiently.
Utilize effective systems to troubleshoot problems, track progress, and evaluate workflow.
Contribute to the organization's mission and reflect school priorities.
Assist in the planning, implementation, execution, and evaluation of special projects.
