About The Position

Global Leadership Academy Charter School is seeking a passionate and creative Middle School Math Teacher for a ten (10) month, salaried position. GLA redefines public education by creating a culturally rich environment where scholars travel and become world travelers and change agents. The school design centers children as global citizens, delivering rigorous instruction that empowers scholars to take ownership of their learning and compete on a local, national, and international stage. The Math Teacher will be responsible for designing rigorous, PA Core standards-aligned lessons, planning class activities, establishing clear objectives, maintaining positive relationships with scholars, parents, and colleagues, creating a safe and inclusive classroom, working with scholars in various group settings, tracking student progress, attending professional development, identifying and meeting student educational needs, and communicating regularly with parents. Other duties may be assigned by leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university required in field of education or mathematics education.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, leadership, collaboration, and independent thinking.
  • Must possess strong people skills and emotional intelligence when dealing with students, parents, and colleagues, as well as a demonstrated understanding of and investment in the School.

  • Current teaching license (Grades 4-8 Math)

Responsibilities

  • Designing rigorous, PA Core standards-aligned lessons based on the standards for mathematical practice and content
  • Plan for class activities, including preparing units and daily lesson plans, identifying materials to implement class activities, preparing class projects, giving children feedback on completed work to ensure mastery of presented material, and grading of tests and assignments in a timely manner.
  • Establishing and communicating clear objectives for lessons, units and projects
  • Maintaining positive relationships with scholars, parents, coworkers and supervisors
  • Creating a safe, respectful and inclusive classroom environment
  • Working with scholars in both small groups and large groups
  • Tracking and evaluating student academic progress
  • Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence
  • Identify the educational needs of scholars and altering instruction to meet student needs
  • Communicate with parents on a regular basis about schedule, assignments, events, and individual scholar needs. Meet with parents during scheduled conferences during the school year.
