About The Position

Baton Rouge Charter School for children with Dyslexia seeks a highly motivated Middle School Math teacher for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This role involves rigorous, ongoing professional training to deeply understand dyslexia and its effects on academic life. The teacher will adopt an open-minded attitude toward academic instruction, including a willingness to work outside the box of traditional methods and to receive and implement feedback regarding instructional practices. The position requires strong classroom management and organizational skills, and a willingness to participate in highly collaborative lesson planning and teaching situations. An individualized, interactive teaching philosophy is essential. The teacher must be able to train at the Dyslexia Resource Center while teaching to obtain additional certification in Dyslexia Education, with training costs paid by LKA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (Required)
  • A strong desire to receive rigorous, ongoing professional training to deeply understand dyslexia and the effect of dyslexia on academic life
  • An open-minded attitude toward academic instruction, including a willingness to “work outside the box” of traditional instructional methods
  • A willingness to receive and implement feedback regarding instructional practices
  • Evidence of strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Willingness to participate in highly collaborative lesson planning and teaching situations
  • Evidence of individualized, interactive teaching philosophy

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with special education
  • Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)
