About The Position

At Rocky Mountain Prep (RMP), we are a movement dedicated to changing public education by providing college access and preparation for historically marginalized students. We are a network of college preparatory charter schools serving students from early childhood through twelfth grade. Our mission in math education is to teach students to be lifelong, strategic problem solvers. Math teachers will create an engaging, supportive learning environment that promotes problem-solving, mathematical discourse, conceptual understanding, and fluency with grade-level knowledge and skills aligned with the Common Core Math Standards. We believe mistakes are a valuable part of learning and encourage academic risks. Math teachers are crucial members of our educational team, collaborating with coaches and peers to implement the RMP Math Academic Program & Resources to ensure student success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree (any subject)
  • Within the first year of employment, complete CDE READ Act training or CDE Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) -45 contact hours
  • Pass a background check
  • Demonstrate Eligibility to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Own student outcomes by setting high expectations, using data to guide teaching, maximizing instructional time, re-teaching where needed, and promoting outstanding scholar growth and proficiency.
  • Take ownership of professional growth by actively engaging in regular coaching, being open to feedback, and committing to continuous improvement.
  • Be consistently punctual and prepared for all lessons, coaching sessions, staff meetings, and other professional obligations.
  • Build a strong, inclusive classroom culture where scholars thrive through proactive routines, culturally responsive structures, and restorative practices that foster belonging.
  • Foster strong relationships with families through consistent communication, home visits, and engagement in school events, embracing each family's unique perspectives and promoting inclusion and diversity.
  • Model and embody RMP’s PEAK values (Perseverance, Excellence, Adventure, and Kindness) in all interactions with scholars, families, and staff.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, special education teachers, and support staff to deliver grade-level content and targeted interventions for all students.
  • Participate in and contribute to school-wide initiatives, professional development, and student and staff recruitment efforts.
  • Support school operations by assisting with daily duties such as arrival, dismissal, and lunch, ensuring a smooth, safe, and organized learning environment.
  • Be a continuous learner of strong math pedagogy and research.
  • Challenge students with tasks that encourage deep thinking and active problem-solving, letting them take the lead in their learning.
  • Encourage multiple solution strategies for any math problem or concept.
  • Incorporate strategies that promote conceptual understanding and procedural fluency with grade-level math topics.
  • Implement network math intervention strategies based on student data that support students with unfinished learning.
