About The Position

Great River Connections Academy (GRCA) is seeking a Middle School Math Interventionist for the 2026-2027 school year. This role, based in Columbus, OH, or remotely within the state, will focus on supporting students in grades 6-8 within GRCA's Response to Intervention Model. The interventionist will collaborate with students, parents, instructional staff, and administration to enhance student learning in mathematics.

Requirements

  • Appropriately certified in K-5 Math, or Elementary in Ohio (appropriate to grade level responsibilities)
  • Strong multi-cultural skills
  • Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft OS, MS Office programs, and Google Suite)
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

  • High degree of flexibility
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player track record
  • Willingness to travel on occasion for marketing and state testing events (may require occasional overnight travel)
  • Ability to work remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze student learning data on an ongoing and consistent basis.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to select students needing tiered math instruction support based on data.
  • Provide diagnostic, prescriptive, and evaluative services for identified students.
  • Provide individual and small group instruction for identified students.
  • Assist with the administration of state math tests and other required state exams.
  • Confer with instructional staff on student math needs and suggest effective interventions, strategies, and discrete skill instruction.
  • Act as a resource teacher in math to regular classroom teachers, assisting with program organization, material selection, and teaching techniques to address special student needs.
  • Model effective math instruction to classroom teachers.
  • Provide math resources for teachers and parents.
  • Review curriculum and devise alternate approaches to lessons to increase student understanding, working directly with students and parents to implement these.
  • Support the instructional program with asynchronous web conferencing sessions and synchronous instruction.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, students, and other teachers to develop and update Math Improvement Plans.
  • Collaborate with other teachers to ensure student program progression, provide a central point of contact for parents, and distribute tasks among teachers.
  • Keep student records and data up-to-date, including online student and family information, and logging all student and parent contacts.
  • Develop and implement virtual methods for creating and maintaining a 'school community'.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
