The McGillis School, an established, independent K-8 school in Salt Lake City, Utah has an opening for a full-time Middle School Learning Support Teacher beginning August 2026. Our mission is to educate children and instill in our students a love of learning and the abilities to think critically, live ethically, and appreciate the value of each individual. Our school is built on the premise that diversity, equity, and inclusion matter. As a school founded on Jewish values, culture, and history, we understand how vital it is to hear, understand, and learn from those who have been marginalized. We believe a diverse, inclusive community is essential to a rich educational experience, and we support each person in our community to reach their full potential. Commitment to this work is crucial for the long-term viability and success of our school. The McGillis School seeks a skilled and collaborative Learning Support Teacher to partner with students, teachers, and families to support students with diverse learning profiles and academic support needs. Through a combination of push-in classroom support, small-group and individual pull-out interventions, and collaborative consultation, the Learning Support Teacher helps students develop the executive functioning, self-advocacy, and academic skills necessary for success in a dynamic Middle School environment. Furthermore, the Learning Support Teacher serves as a case manager for identified students, monitoring academic progress, implementing support plans, and facilitating communication among teachers, families, and outside providers as appropriate. The ideal candidate enjoys working with Middle School students, embraces the School’s mission and values, and thrives in a dynamic environment requiring flexibility, professionalism, initiative, and strong interpersonal skills.
