About The Position
DMPS is seeking a teacher for the 26-27 school year to teach 8th grade Language Arts. This position requires a K-8, 6-8, or 5-12 English/Language Arts endorsement. Please note salary information in this posting comes from the 25-26 salary schedule, as the 26-27 schedule is not yet finalized.
Requirements
- Valid Iowa teaching license (appropriate endorsement code for teaching assignment).
- Knowledge of subject, curriculum, effective teaching methods.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in oral and written communications.
Nice To Haves
- Previous classroom teaching experience.
- Experience in an urban school district.
Responsibilities
- Deliver daily lessons, aligned to state and district standards that meet students’ individual needs and ensure growth.
- Create a culturally inclusive classroom that meets the academic and social emotional needs of students.
- Participate in building and district professional learning communities to plan for instruction, analyze data, and create assessments.
- Monitor student learning on a daily basis.
- Use multiple data points to guide and individualize instruction.
- Communicate with families on a regular basis.
- Participate in professional development.
- Demonstrate consistent progress on meeting the eight Iowa Teaching Standards
- Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.
- Assist with other duties as may be assigned.
