About The Position

Sterling Montessori Academy & Charter School is seeking a passionate and dependable Middle School Humanities Teacher to join their collaborative teaching team. This role involves supporting the unique developmental journey of adolescents by delivering engaging, student-centered lessons aligned with North Carolina's ELA and social studies standards. The ideal candidate will implement research-based best practices, differentiate instruction, support students with special learning needs and gifted students, and foster a positive, respectful, and productive classroom environment. Responsibilities include observing and documenting student progress, providing feedback, managing classrooms, communicating with families, facilitating Advisory groups, and planning/participating in field trips and experiential learning activities. This is a fast-paced, rewarding position for someone passionate about making a difference in a diverse and inclusive learning community.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited university
State License (or willing to pursue NC licensure)
Montessori Adolescent Training (or willing and able to pursue Adolescent training)

Responsibilities

Play a vital role in supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally
Deliver engaging, student-centered lessons aligned with North Carolina's ELA and social studies standards in the middle grades
Understand and be able to implement current research-based “best practices” for middle grades education, including differentiation of instruction, support methods for students with special learning needs, and strategies for gifted or advanced students
Collaborate with teachers, colleagues, and administration to develop and ensure a healthy, safe, and inclusive environment in which all community members are free to learn and work
Foster a positive, respectful, and productive classroom environment
Observe and document student progress and plan individualized supports
Provide grading, feedback, and classroom management
Communicate regularly with students, families, and team members
Facilitate small-group Advisory groups year round
Plan and participate in field trips, conferences, and experiential learning activities
Embrace professional growth through meetings and ongoing training
