The Nueva School Middle School Humanities (History) Teacher is a full-time position starting July 1, 2026. Nueva seeks a constructivist educator with deep content knowledge and a passion for teaching reading, research, and presentation skills. This role involves collaborating with colleagues to create dynamic cross-curricular lessons, requiring strong collaboration skills. Experience with project-based learning, technology integration, and curriculum development is essential. The ideal candidate will possess a lifelong love of learning, extensive knowledge in literature and history representing diverse voices, a sense of humor, and the ability to differentiate curriculum for gifted learners. A typical day includes teaching classes, running an advisory, one-on-one student meetings, collaborating with colleagues, and participating in school activities like morning meetings, grade-level meetings, and supervision duties. Teachers are part of a humanities department and a grade-level team, participating in student support meetings. The schedule includes four 75-minute student-facing blocks over two days, with class sizes ranging from 12 to 16 students. Fridays are dedicated to special classes, workshops, discussions, and choice time, and are tech-free. All middle school teachers chaperone field trips, including one annual week-long trip.
