About The Position

Durham Academy is seeking part-time Middle School head and assistant girls basketball coaches for the upcoming season, which runs from early November through early February. The specific role (head or assistant coach) will be determined by the athletics director and head varsity girls basketball coach based on the candidate's experience. Coaches will be responsible for assisting with tryouts and team selection, planning and executing effective practices, creating and executing game strategy, driving a minibus to all road games, and collaborating with other coaches and athletic staff. Practices are expected to be 60-90 minutes on weekdays, with two to three games per week.

Requirements

• Experience playing or coaching basketball at the interscholastic or collegiate level.
• A commitment to providing a safe, healthy, joyful environment for practice and play
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• An ability and eagerness to maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with all members of the school community (student-athletes, families, alumni, teachers, administrators and fellow coaches)
• The ability to lead student-athletes with competitive energy and formative care
• Culturally competent and believe in the central importance of diversity and equity in the life of a school community.
• Can work independently with minimal supervision and routinely prioritize multiple tasks.
• Have the ability to work in complex environments with a high degree of organizational effectiveness and attention to detail.

• Collaborate with all coaches in the girls basketball program and DA Athletics trainers, staff, administration and faculty
