About The Position

The Middle School Girls' Athletic Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and supervising all physical education and athletic programs on the middle school campus. This role involves leading and coordinating the physical education program, ensuring student participation in quality programs, and maximizing the academic and athletic performance of student-athletes. The coordinator will also collaborate with high school coaches, assist in hiring and supervising coaches, and ensure compliance with UIL and district policies. Additionally, the role includes overseeing athletic facilities, coordinating district-wide events, and performing administrative duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university
  • Valid Texas teacher certificate
  • General knowledge of coaching techniques and strategies
  • Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules and regulations
  • A minimum of three (3) years of coaching experience in a formal educational setting
  • Experience as a coach in more than one sport
  • Positive teaching experience in Kinesiology or other teaching fields
  • Demonstrates leadership in working with diverse students, staff, families, and communities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise all physical education and athletic programs on the middle school campus.
  • Coordinate and facilitate communication between coaches, the campus administrative team, and the district athletic department.
  • Lead and coordinate the physical education program for all grade levels and ensure that all students have an opportunity to participate in a quality program in a safe environment.
  • Work with campus administration and staff to maximize the academic and athletic performance of all athletes and programs.
  • Responsible for the collection and dissemination of all required data related to athlete academic and athletic performance.
  • Collaborate with HS coaches in feeder patterns to establish an athletic program on campus that is reflective of the high school programs.
  • Assist the school administration and athletic department in the hiring of all coaches.
  • Actively participate in the assignment of coaches to various responsibilities.
  • Supervise coaches and staff in a variety of settings and responsibilities.
  • Formally evaluate all coaches on the staff using the CFISD Athletic Evaluation instrument.
  • Make coaches aware of UIL and district policies and ensure that all UIL and district policies are adhered to.
  • Ensure that all student-athletes are cleared and eligible to fully participate and are in compliance with all UIL and CFISD requirements for athletic participation.
  • Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students’ athletic abilities initially and on a regular basis.
  • Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property.
  • Reinforce and follow the chain of command for resolving athletic and academic concerns, issues, and problems.
  • Ensure that all coaches account for their equipment by completing an accurate inventory at the conclusion of each season and that all equipment rooms are maintained and cared for in an organized, efficient manner.
  • Oversee the proper care and maintenance of all campus athletic fields and facilities.
  • Assist with the coordination, planning, and execution of assigned district-wide athletic events and activities as assigned.
  • Ensure that all staff members maintain CPR/First Aid/AED certification and other state and locally mandated requirements.
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned by the principal and athletic department.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
