About The Position

A Football Referee is responsible for enforcing the rules of the game, ensuring fair play, and maintaining player safety during football matches. This position requires a deep understanding of the sport's rules, strong decision-making, and composure under pressure. The Line Judge is specifically responsible for accurately determining whether the ball is in or out of bounds during a football game, requiring excellent eyesight, quick reflexes, and a thorough understanding of the game's rules.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce rules: Consistently apply the official rules of football to all players and coaches.
  • Manage game flow: Control the pace, manage time effectively, and make timely decisions.
  • Maintain player safety: Monitor player behavior and enforce penalties for unsafe or unsportsmanlike conduct.
  • Communicate effectively: Clearly and concisely communicate rulings to players, coaches, and spectators.
  • Participate in a 2-hour referee training to be scheduled by the athletic director.
