About The Position

Lincoln Middle School is seeking a 6th Grade Football coach for the 26/27 season. The Middle School Football Coach is responsible for leading and developing student-athletes in a competitive football program that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, and character. The coach organizes and supervises all aspects of the football program, including planning practices, managing games, and ensuring student-athlete safety and academic accountability. The first day of practice will be August 24th and the season will run through the end of October and sometimes into November. Practice times will be from 3:15-5:30pm.

Requirements

  • Prior experience playing or coaching football, preferably at the middle or high school level.
  • Knowledge of football techniques, rules, and safety protocols.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to positively connect with middle school students from diverse backgrounds.
  • First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to pass background check per district policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid teaching license.
  • Experience coaching at the middle school level.
  • Understanding of adolescent development and social-emotional learning.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and conduct effective practices that build fundamental football skills and game knowledge.
  • Instruct and mentor student-athletes in the rules, strategies, and sportsmanship of football.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and disciplined team environment that supports both athletic and personal growth.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by following district policies and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with assistant coaches, athletic directors, parents, and school staff to support student-athletes.
  • Manage team equipment and uniforms responsibly.
  • Supervise athletes during practices, games, and team travel.
  • Monitor academic performance and attendance, and encourage student-athletes to maintain eligibility and good standing.
  • Uphold and model district and school values.
  • Attend all scheduled games, practices, and coaching meetings.
  • Likely that all games occur on Saturdays.
