About The Position

Trevor Day School’s Athletics program emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership. Our coaches are committed educators who teach our student-athletes the importance of collaboration, commitment, and hard work while instilling self-confidence and respect for others. We value competition as an opportunity to challenge ourselves while engaging with the larger community. Our teams and athletes compete successfully at the league, city, and state levels. Trevor benefits from state-of-the-art athletic facilities, including three gyms and training areas with fitness equipment. We are seeking Middle School Coaches who demonstrate a high level of competency in skill instruction, student motivation, teaching strategies, community-building, team spirit, and competitive concepts of the sport. Coaches must also be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and student-athletes. We are currently seeking Middle School coaches for the following fall sports: Cross Country Soccer Volleyball Tennis Middle School coaches are stipended positions run from September 7 to November 7. Middle School practices are scheduled three days a week (6th grade is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and 7th/8th grade is Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday). Practices typically run from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Game days may run later. The stipend ranges from $1,080 to $2,475 for the 9-week season

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of one year of relevant coaching experience.
  • Strong understanding of sport-specific skills and strategies.
  • Growth mindset and passion for learning.
  • Ability to form strong professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Commitment to equity and inclusion.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a collaborative, independent school setting
  • Positivity, flexibility, patience, and a sense of humor.
  • Candidates must complete 1) the Centers for Disease Control’s HEADS up concussion awareness training and 2) First Aid/AED/CPR certification before the start of the season.

  • Previous high school or college playing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Attend all practices and matches.
  • Help create and execute all practice and match plans.
  • Oversee team operations and administrative duties.
  • Coordinate travel logistics.
  • Attend all necessary athletic and school meetings.
  • Communicate regularly with student-athletes, parents, staff, and administrators.
  • Provide leadership and give detailed feedback to student-athletes.
  • Exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical behavior.
