The Middle School Cross Country Coach will model the behaviors outlined in the NFHS Coaches Code of Ethics, especially those pertaining to sportsmanship. The coach will have full control of the team in all matters pertaining to coaching and athletic discipline, and will implement Peabody Athletic Department policies and team rules. They will be responsible for information contained in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Handbook and the Peabody Athletic Handbook, and must stay informed of rule changes, trends, and recommendations that affect their particular sport. The coach must be present at each practice session and at all contests of the sport coached, and develop an organized written practice plan to include adequate warm-up and cool-down procedures on a daily basis. The coach will model professional and healthy behaviors, leading by example in appearance, manners, language, and conduct during practices/games. They will ensure that facilities and equipment are safe and that safety procedures are taught and followed in all areas. The coach will perform all duties/responsibilities assigned by the Director of Athletics, implement game plans and game management, and process medical forms, parent consent forms, and eligibility reports. They will also work with community members involved in youth sports and directly supervise squad members at home and away contests, as well as all team members transported by school buses.
