The Middle School Cross Country Asst. Coach for Fall 2026 will model the behaviors outlined in the NFHS Coaches Code of Ethics, especially those pertaining to sportsmanship. This role involves having full control of the team in all matters pertaining to coaching and athletic discipline, and implementing Peabody Athletic Department policies and team rules. The coach will be responsible for information contained in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Handbook and the Peabody Athletic Handbook, staying informed of rule changes, trends, and recommendations that affect their particular sport. Responsibilities include being present at each practice session and all contests, developing an organized written practice plan with adequate warm-up and cool-down procedures, and modeling professional and healthy behaviors. The coach will lead by example in appearance, manners, language, and conduct during practices and games, ensuring facilities and equipment are safe and that safety procedures are taught and followed. The position also involves implementing game plans and game management, processing medical forms, parent consent forms, and eligibility reports, and working with community members involved in youth sports. Direct supervision of squad members at home and away contests, and supervision of all team members transported by school buses are also key duties.
