This role is responsible for promoting the mental, physical, emotional, and social growth of assigned students. The teacher will utilize available instructional materials and a variety of techniques to foster student achievement and development, demonstrating knowledge of appropriate developmental practices for young children. Key functions include maintaining accurate records, managing the classroom environment, and developing and implementing effective classroom management techniques. The position requires timely completion of reports and assignments, collection of necessary monies, and weekly submission of lesson plans. Punctual attendance and prompt reporting for duties are essential, along with notifying the principal of any absence and providing substitutes with adequate plans and materials. The teacher will maintain assigned books and equipment, become knowledgeable about system methods and resources, and use various diagnostic and placement methods. Professional conduct, including self-control and decorum, is expected, along with the ability to provide for individual differences and continually evaluate student progress. Cooperation with school personnel and engagement with parents regarding student progress are crucial. Evidence of professional growth, participation in inservice training, and contributions to faculty meetings are also expected. The role must conform to Louisiana laws regarding student education, health, safety, and welfare, and assist in the development and implementation of quality education in Jefferson Parish Public Schools. The teacher will also plan for and participate in the evaluation process and perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
