About The Position

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities. AMS is hiring Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Teachers for immediate openings at three of our Phoenix-area campuses: AMS Flower, AMS Desert Sky, and AMS Peoria Advanced. These full-time positions begin July 20, 2026, for the 2026–2027 school year. We're seeking passionate, data-driven educators who believe every scholar can achieve at high levels through rigorous instruction, strong classroom culture, and meaningful relationships. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or a related field; OR a valid Arizona teaching certificate in a relevant subject area; OR a minimum of three (3) years of K–12 teaching experience.
  • Demonstrate strong classroom management skills.
  • Obtain or be eligible to obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Pass all required background checks.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to serving Title I and multilingual communities.
  • Exhibit strong analytical skills and a data-driven instructional mindset.
  • Work collaboratively while maintaining high professional standards.

Nice To Haves

  • SEI Endorsement or completion of 45 hours of SEI training (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned English Language Arts instruction aligned to AMS curriculum frameworks.
  • Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level.
  • Use formative and summative assessment data to drive instructional planning and targeted interventions.
  • Develop students' reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking skills.
  • Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment.
  • Implement PBIS and proactive classroom management strategies.
  • Support students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth.
  • Participate in weekly professional development and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to continuously improve instructional practices.
  • Contribute to school-wide initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and achievement.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences and build strong partnerships with families.
