About The Position

Great Hearts Academies is seeking passionate, life-long learners to shape students' hearts and minds as Middle School English and History Teachers. This role is part of a growing network of classical, liberal arts schools that aim to provide students with a high-quality education focused on intellectual and moral development. The Humanities curriculum emphasizes Great Books, primary sources, and a Socratic approach to classroom discussions. In Literature and Composition, teachers guide students in exploring grammar, literary devices, and argumentation, while also delving into literature and poetry that convey the human experience. History courses cover topics such as the American Tradition, Ancient History, and Medieval History.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or higher degree is required for a lead teaching role
• All majors are welcome
• US work authorization is required, but we do accept OPT/CPT candidates.
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.

• Certification is not required for general education

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, preparing thoughtful lessons and cultivating an orderly, joyful classroom that supports the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.
• Provide appropriate academic support to students, monitor progress, and partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.
• Uphold and model the culture, policies, and expectations of Great Hearts, including dress code, conduct, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful and orderly school environment.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.
• Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.
