About The Position

Great Hearts Academies is seeking passionate, life-long learners to shape students' hearts and minds in their growing network of classical liberal arts schools. The organization believes the highest goal of education is to become good, intellectually and morally. This role involves teaching Humane Letters courses, which focus on great works of literature, history, and philosophy from the Western Tradition using primary sources and a Socratic, seminar-style approach. The curriculum includes Humane Letters I (American studies/history), Humane Letters II (European studies/history), Humane Letters III (Ancient Greek/Roman studies/philosophy), and Humane Letters IV (Western tradition/philosophy capstone).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or higher degree is required for a lead teaching role.
  • All majors are welcome.
  • US Work Authorization is required.
  • Successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.

  • Certification is not required for general education.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, preparing thoughtful lessons and cultivating an orderly, joyful classroom that supports the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.
  • Provide appropriate academic support to students, monitor progress, and partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.
  • Uphold and model the culture, policies, and expectations of Great Hearts, including dress code, conduct, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful and orderly school environment.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.
  • Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.
