KIPP Chicago Middle School Teachers: Middle schools at KIPP Chicago serve grades 5-8 across four campuses: KIPP Ascend Middle School, KIPP Academy Chicago, KIPP Bloom College Prep, and KIPP One Academy. Teachers are departmentalized and specialize in a content area such as English/Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Literacy Centers, Math Centers, Algebra, or History. As a KIPP Chicago Teacher, your core responsibilities include: Mission Alignment: A belief in student success and a growth mindset for oneself and others, including a commitment to professional development. Dedication to the KIPP Chicago mission, vision, and the pursuit of antiracism. Regular and reliable on-site attendance is essential. Curriculum and Instruction: Utilize the aligned regional curriculum for all subjects, including assessments and progress-monitoring tools to analyze student results and adjust instruction. Provide daily feedback on student performance and plan for individual learning needs. Employ best practices, including differentiation, instructional technology, and engaging techniques, to deliver rigorous instruction for all students. Care of Students and Commitment to School and Classroom Culture: Ensure all students feel affirmed, valued, and challenged daily. Implement school-wide systems for behavior management to create a safe, warm, demanding, and joyful classroom environment. Establish and maintain strong communication with students and families, sharing progress. Contribute to developing a school-wide culture that meets the needs of students, staff, and families. Teacher Supports: KIPP Chicago Teachers receive support including a recent model Apple Mac laptop, a stipend for mobile phone usage, a daily prep period, dedicated time for data analysis and planning, school-wide Social Emotional Learning curriculum and practices, regular professional development focused on antiracist practices and aligned competencies, accessible principals and assistant principals, and weekly collaboration with grade-level and content teams.
