About The Position

The Latin School of Chicago is seeking qualified coaches to join its staff for the Fall 2026 Water Polo season. This role involves contributing to a strong, rich, and successful athletic tradition within an education-based athletic program. The assistant coach will foster a positive team environment, teach fundamental skills and strategies, and model the benefits of hard work and competition.

Requirements

• Coaching experience is necessary
• Red Cross Lifeguarding certification
• Carry equipment up to around 20 lbs.
• Ability to complete our fingerprint-based background check
• Provide a tuberculosis test
• Complete required training

Nice To Haves

• Playing experience is preferred

Responsibilities

• Build an attitude of camaraderie, motivation, and team spirit where team members cheer, challenge, and support each other.
• Plan, organize and implement the teaching of fundamentals, strategies, rules, and proper conditioning in the assigned sport.
• Model attitudes and practices that exemplify the benefits of hard work, sacrifices aimed toward long-term goals, the value of learning to strive and compete fully, and the appreciation of challenge.
• Develop a working knowledge of the principles of the Positive Coaching Alliance, including 'honoring the game', 'redefining winner', and 'filling the emotional tank'.
