About The Position

Second Baptist School is seeking a Middle School Boys Soccer Coach. The Department of Athletics aims to provide an environment of competition, cooperation, and teamwork that glorifies God and offers valuable life lessons, emphasizing the importance of lessons learned during competition over winning. A coach at Second Baptist School is expected to plan, organize, and implement an athletic program that guides and encourages students to develop their potential as athletes and outstanding citizens. The school offers a variety of teams, and coaches encourage students to participate in all sports offered. Coaching duties are performed under the supervision of the Director of Athletics.

Requirements

  • Have a personal and passionate relationship with Jesus Christ and a calling to serve as a positive Christian role model to our students
  • Be a dedicated and loyal team member supporting all school-level activities and school-wide initiatives
  • Possess a strong desire to coach and develop all athletes
  • Have competency in playing/coaching soccer
  • Be committed to Second Baptist Church and be a model of faithfulness in weekly Bible study and worship service
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Have prior experience in coaching and/or significant playing experience
  • Understand and embrace Christian education; have a biblical perspective on athletics and competition
  • Be able to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
  • Be personable, energetic and approachable
  • Be committed to professional growth
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • Be proficient in technology

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize and implement an appropriate athletic program
  • Guide and encourage students to develop and fulfill their potential as an athlete and outstanding citizen
  • Lead and oversee all aspects of the middle school boys soccer program with professionalism and integrity
  • Model Christ-centered leadership while fostering a competitive and positive team environment
  • Be responsible for all aspects of the program, including player development, practice planning, game preparation, communication and program culture
  • Carry out the policies and procedures of the SBS athletic handbook
  • Assume responsibilities assigned by the school and Director of Athletics
  • Be a responsible steward of the school’s resources
  • Mentor student athletes in their Christian faith, athletic skills and life skills
  • Report to work on a regular and punctual basis
  • Collaborate with colleagues
