About The Position

The Middle School Boys Basketball Coach is responsible for leading and growing the soccer program at Khan Lab School. In addition to having a deep understanding of soccer, the coach should have a nuanced understanding of adolescent development and teaching practices in physical education. We are looking for a team player who has a sense of humor and a passion for working with middle schoolers. The Middle School Boys Basketball Coach will lead practices twice a week and coach games, as scheduled. They will work about 4-6 hours per week.

Requirements

• Familiarity with Khan Schools Network, Khan Academy, and Schoolhouse.world.
• Strong alignment with a personalized, mastery-based approach to learning.
• Demonstrated experience in administration, project management, and scheduling.
• Familiarity with operational processes.
• Ability to coordinate and collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Adaptability and flexibility to meet the evolving needs of educational initiatives.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with team members, stakeholders, and external partners.
• Commitment to being a role model and upholding high standards expected from team members.
• Proficient use of educational software such as TADS, SSS, Dewars, Clever, ParentSquare.
• Enthusiasm for exploring new technologies and modalities in education, like artificial intelligence.

Responsibilities

• Organize and run effective practices for the program.
• Attend all games and practices while utilizing positive coaching techniques.
• Communicate clearly and consistently with student-athletes, parents, and school administration.
• Evaluate athlete performance and provide real-time suitable feedback, balancing criticism with positivity and motivation.
• Model inclusion when welcoming new athletes, despite skill level or experience.
• Act as a role model and leader at all times, gaining the respect and trust of the student-athletes, parents, and coaching colleagues.
• Work with the Athletic Department to organize: Scheduling, Transportation, Program short-term, long-term, and annual needs, Equipment/uniform inventory and distribution.
