About The Position

Lakeside School, an independent 5-12 coeducational day school located in North Seattle, is currently recruiting for Middle School Boys and Girls Basketball Coaches. The coaching season begins the week of October 26th, 2026, and concludes in late January. These coaches will report to the head varsity basketball coach(es) and Assistant Director of Athletics - Middle School, and will be part of an athletics program that includes 26 varsity teams, many with sub-varsity and middle-school counterparts. The basketball program supports Upper School teams and several Middle School teams. Coaches will be responsible for coaching duties with their assigned team and other program-wide duties as assigned.

Requirements

At least 19 years of age.
Availability for all practices (twice per week for 75 minutes at either 3:35 pm or 4:50 pm) and competitions (weekends) during their coaching season.
Experience playing or coaching basketball at the club, middle school, high school or college level.
Demonstrated cultural awareness, including knowledge of themselves and the cultural lenses they bring to interactions. Candidates will understand different perspectives, interact respectfully with cultures other than their own, and cultivate meaningful relationships with people who have different cultural frameworks.
Possess or obtain prior to the start of the season current First Aid/CPR certification.
Satisfactorily complete two criminal background checks.

Commitment to providing support, communication, and opportunities to a diverse student body who come to school with different and evolving lived experiences and levels of preparation as student-athletes.
Supervision and instruction of student-athletes during team activities.
Attendance at required program and interscholastic athletics program meetings.
Support of multi-sport participation for student-athletes.
Promotion of balanced achievement in all areas of school life for student-athletes.
